In honor of Energy Efficiency Day, Acuative is proud to showcase the strides we’ve made in enhancing energy efficiency and reducing our environmental impact at our Strongsville office. At Acuative, we believe that environmental sustainability is not just a goal, but a core responsibility. Over the past year, we’ve implemented several key initiatives that underscore our commitment to conserving energy, minimizing our carbon footprint, and fostering a more sustainable future for our company and the planet. Below is a breakdown of the most impactful projects we’ve completed.
1. Energy-Efficient Roofing
A major step in our sustainability journey was the installation of a new, energy-efficient roof at our Strongsville office. The roofing system was upgraded with double the insulation and features a white reflective membrane designed to improve temperature regulation throughout the year.
• Impact: These improvements help keep the building warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, significantly reducing the need for excessive heating and air conditioning. This not only optimizes energy use but also aligns with our goal of reducing the building's overall energy consumption.
2. Optimized HVAC System
In addition to our roofing improvements, we optimized our heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system by switching vendors and reconfiguring our control systems. This allowed us to maximize the efficiency of our existing units and drastically cut down on natural gas usage.
• Results: Between July 2022-July 2023 and July 2023-July 2024, we reduced our natural gas consumption from 30,811 Ccf to 12,745 Ccf, a savings of 18,066 Ccf.
• Environmental Impact: This decrease in natural gas usage is equivalent to 99.3 metric tons of carbon dioxide, marking a significant milestone in our efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
3. LED Lighting Upgrade
Lighting efficiency is another key element of Acuative’s sustainability strategy. Over the past year, we replaced more than 800 lights in the office, warehouse, and outdoor areas with LED fixtures. These energy-efficient LEDs are not only brighter but consume significantly less energy than traditional fluorescent and metal halide bulbs.
• Results: The new lighting system saves 134,535 kWh of electricity annually.
• Environmental Impact: This reduction in energy consumption equates to 94 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions saved each year, further demonstrating Acuative’s dedication to lowering our environmental impact.
4. Solar Energy System
Acuative’s most ambitious sustainability project is the completion of a state-of-the-art solar energy system on the roof of the Strongsville office. The system features 552 solar panels that generate 308 kW of electricity—enough to power the entire building on sunny days.
• Results: The solar panels will help us save 399,762 kWh of electricity per year.
• Environmental Impact: This transition to solar energy reduces our carbon emissions by 279 metric tons annually, reinforcing Acuative’s commitment to clean, renewable energy and long-term sustainability.
